The Amprobe SC-3500 Signal Clamp, designed as an accessory for the AT-3500, is used to encircle a buried metallic pipe, cable, or wire. Its purpose is to induce a transmitted signal into the feature, facilitating active location and tracing. Notably, this clamp does not require direct contact with metal to transmit the signal. It can effectively transmit the signal through insulation on wires and into cable and wire bundles, resulting in more accurate tracing compared to using only a receiver and transmitter. The SC-3500 accommodates conductors up to 4 inches in diameter and transmits a 33 kilohertz (kHz) frequency supplied by the T-3500 Transmitter (included in the AT-3500 kit).
